All the world’s possibilities in man
Are waiting as the tree waits in its seed:
His past lives in him; it drives his future’s pace;
His present’s acts fashion his coming fate.

(Savitri, Sri Aurobindo)

Satyameva is dedicated to Dharma in its widest, most universal sense: the ageless human quest for Truth, Knowledge and Immortality: SatyamJnanamAmritam, in the words of the Vedas. It is this that is the inmost core of all our religions and spiritual quests. The true Dharma is not only an inner, spiritual quest for the Truth of life and being but equally a quest for human unity and harmony, a quest for the highest and noblest expression of our collective existence on earth. Dharma is that which binds and upholds all existence, inner and outer.

All humans, everywhere, throughout the ages, have struggled for Truth and for consciousness: to become more and more conscious is the highest need of the human mind and heart. It is this struggle that defines us and continually shapes us as a species and as a civilization. This is our collective dharma, regardless of our culture, religion or nation. Truly, we don’t even need a name for this Dharma.

Satyameva is an attempt to bring this Dharma back to our collective consciousness through philosophy, literature and culture. As our species approaches technological singularity, it becomes all the more urgent that we intensify and accelerate the growth of our consciousness as well: for we need to save ourselves from our own self-destructive habits and tendencies; we need to grow into a more conscious, more compassionate, more tolerant species and learn to live in deeper unity, peace and harmony. We may have attained much in terms of science and technology, but we still have a long way to go before we attain to our true humanity.

Satyameva is open to all thought-systems, beliefs and cultures. Ours is an integral approach to life and spirituality. We invite thinkers, scholars and writers from all streams, all religions, all cultures to contribute to our website.

Satyameva: (Sanskrit) from the words satyam, meaning Truth; and eva, meaning only or alone: thus, Truth alone

सत्यमेव जयते नानृतं सत्येन पन्था विततो देवयानः

Truth alone triumphs; not falsehood.
Through truth the divine path is spread out

सत्यम् ऋतम् बृहत्

Satyam. Ritam. Brihat. Satyam is Truth, the absolute Truth; Ritam is Truth in action and expression; Brihat is the Vast. There is one supreme, indivisible, absolute Truth of existence. To know this Truth, one must become the Truth. As this Truth is vast, the knower of this Truth too must become vast.
